Buyer groups to consider for series a and series b teams

These examples are a starting point for scoping your campaign. Your offer, delivery requirements and target market determine the final account list.

    Build a repeatable outbound motion

One primary buyer group supported by existing customer evidence. Discuss: consistent account fit, use case and meeting handoff.

Expand coverage of an established market

Additional accounts within a proven customer profile. Discuss: territory ownership, account exclusions and capacity to follow up.

Test a new segment or geography

A separately researched account and buyer group. Discuss: a specific hypothesis and distinct reporting for the test.

A clear division of sales responsibilities

    CFE manages the agreed outreach

We define targeting with you, prepare approved messaging, handle the agreed prospecting channels and pass relevant meeting context to your sales owner.

Your team owns the sales conversation

You run discovery or demos, confirm technical and commercial fit, provide proposals and close business. Feedback from those conversations helps refine targeting.

Series A and Series B describe a stage, not a sales playbook

After Series A, one possible priority is turning founder-led customer knowledge into repeatable prospecting for the first sales hires. Start with the segments that already show useful buying conversations and define the criteria for handing a meeting to an account executive.

After Series B, a team may need more account coverage, a new market test or additional prospecting capacity alongside internal SDRs. Separate each segment so the sales leader can compare meeting quality, held meetings and accepted opportunities. Some Series A businesses already have mature sales teams; some Series B teams are still refining their motion. Scope the work around the actual need.

What should a qualified meeting include?

    • New outreach complements account ownership and existing SDR activity.
    • The relevant buyer and use case match the segment being tested.
    • The receiving sales team agrees what counts as an accepted meeting.
    • Booked meetings, held meetings and resulting opportunities are reported separately.

    Frequently asked questions

Should Series A companies outsource SDR work?

It is one option when prospecting capacity is limiting a sales process with a clear offer and buyer. Compare the management effort, internal hiring plan, campaign scope and feedback process. The funding round by itself is not a reason to outsource.

Can an external team work alongside our SDRs?

Yes, with agreed territories, account exclusions, ownership rules and a shared qualification definition. Decide who contacts an account and how activity is recorded before either team starts outreach.

What should a Series B team measure?

Measure account coverage, relevant conversations, booked and held meetings, sales-accepted opportunities and eventual outcomes. Review each segment separately and use consistent definitions so activity volume does not obscure poor fit.

How is the appointment-setting program priced?

Pricing is scoped on a 30-minute strategy call around the audience, channels, research requirements and program responsibilities. CFE programs are month to month with 30 days notice to cancel. Confirm deliverables, reporting and any replacement terms in the written scope.

When can outreach begin and how many meetings will it produce?

Launch timing depends on account research, approved messaging, outreach setup and available sales calendars. Agree the launch plan and meeting target after reviewing the reachable market. Report meetings booked and held separately; a target is not a guarantee of meetings, revenue or closed customers.
